We had thought of getting a second dog for a long time before bringing Rolo into our lives. We tried fostering for a local rescue group and it went so well we decided for sure it was time to get another dog whether through the rescue group or another means. When the time came though I really wanted another boxer because our ten-year-old Roxy had been so great.
That's how we found Rolo.
I picked him out of the litter and physically he is a remarkable looking dog.
He does have a wildly different personality than our sweet Roxy though. He's also still definitely a puppy after a year.
Here are a few tidbits about the boy to amuse you.
He can jump to grab a treat or a stick out of your hands but won't jump to get up into a bed or in the back of the Subaru.
He loves the sun more than Roxy and hunts out the sunny spots in the house on my work from home days. He especially likes to plop down at the front storm door as the sun pours in during the afternoon.
He will sit on you.
I mean like right on you.
He always wants to be next to Roxy. She tries to escape to the kitchen rug or bedroom but he'll find her and lay right on top of her.
It was cuter when he was a puppy.
He's pretty chill in the car.
When one of us leaves the house he'll stand on his hand legs to see out the family room window to see where you are.
He doesn't lift his leg to pee he just kind of stand there and shoots the stream forward. Often hitting his front paws although less so nowadays.
He's doesn't mind the vacuum.
He loves to chase balls and Frisbees in the yard but equally likes to run behind a row of trees and the dirt that surrounds them.
Evie plays with his ears a bit too rough but he doesn't seem to mind.
If you turn your back on him to work on the computer he will bark at you.
If you look down at your iPhone he will bark at you.
If you stop paying attention to him when he wants attention…he will bark at you.
Yes, that's our Rolo.
