Path: A Social Network for Parents?

There's been a lot of hype about Path, a new social network that curtails your friend count at 50 and nothing is shared publicly or on Google etc. It's the perfect idea for parents concerned about posting info on their kids.

Oh and it only uses images. You don't post any status updates. Just images of your life, or your path through life if you want to fall in live with the hype.

Personally I'm not too worried about exposing the kids online as I talk about them here all the time. However, I know many parents who do feel this way.

For me I like the concept of a closed network because I'm asked to take part in Facebook and Twitter for work and don't want to mix the two.

Path may be a sanctuary for social media professionals.

As for how it works, it looks terrific. I love the way the timeline looks and how photos expand smoothly in landscape or portrait modes.

There is one problem. I've got no friends. Ok I have friends but they're not in Path so I'm only looking at my own feed.

You're also limited to tagging photos. You can't describe what's going on otherwise. Just People, Places and Things tags. I guess it has to so with how well you can communicate with just images.

The app is free right now but only works on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.
